About Intaglio Press

Intaglio Press is a nonprofit collective of veteran authors who seek greater creative and financial control over our work. We publish literary and book club fiction of the highest quality. To participate in the collective, authors must have published at least one book of fiction with a traditional press and must have won a recognized award for their work.

Unlike traditional imprints, Intaglio Press selects works for publication through a rigorous editorial process conducted by the collective members themselves. Authors assess the work of other authors, bringing to bear their acumen as experienced, award-winning writers. Decisions are made through discussion, debate and ultimately a vote, much as award committees select their winners.

The literary quality of the manuscript is the sole criterion for acceptance. By removing the for-profit element from the equation, Intaglio also removes any incentive to accept work that is less than excellent. This is how Intaglio ensures a truly high-quality list.

Once a book is accepted, collective members contribute toward all aspects of the book's journey, from editing to cover selection and advance promotion. Each Intaglio release reflects the skills and dedication of the entire group, resulting in books we can all be proud of.
